Dear Third Grader,
We hope that you had a phenomenal summer and we are delighted you will be a member of the “Magnificent Monkeys” this year. This is our classroom name. I know that this will be a great year as we learn and grow together.
For those who don’t know me, this will be my 5th year of teaching at Cole Academy. Over the summer, I finally completed my Masters degree through Michigan State University in Curriculum and Development. I also had the opportunity to go to Chicago to visit a friend that I hadn’t seen in 12 years! I am very excited about this year and I will be looking forward to teaching and learning with you! Also, Mrs. Cornett will be our assistant in the classroom again this year and she has been working here for over 20 years and has 2 children.
On the first day of school we would like you to bring in something to share with the class that teaches us something about you! For example, if you love to fish you could bring in your favorite bait and a picture of the biggest fish you have ever caught. Maybe you like collecting things. You could bring in part of your collection to share.
If you are ready to go shopping for school items, here is a list of some recommended (but not required) supplies that every 3rd grader will be asked to bring: (folders will be provided)
- Extra pencils and erasers 5. Big bottle of hand sanitizer
- Crayons, colored pencils, markers 6. Sanitizing wipes
- Glue Sticks 7. Pencil box or zip lock back
- A Big Box of Kleenex to store supplies in

This will be an exciting year as we grow new friendships, learn as a community, and blossom into wonderful and confident 3rd Graders! We will see you on September 2nd and remember, it is a half-day of school and dismissal is at 12:15.
Warmly,
Ms. Schaub and Mrs. Cornett
